About St. Albans VA Medical Center
St. Albans VA Medical Center is a Queens based VA facility providing outpatient mental health and substance use disorder care for Veterans through the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System.
The campus offers integrated treatment for alcohol use disorder and opioid use disorder as well as other substance use concerns in combination with specialty care for PTSD, depression, and anxiety which we know are common diagnoses for veterans.
Its mission is to deliver evidence based and Veteran centered care in a safe supportive environment that connects service members with the resources they need to recover and thrive.
Veteran Focused Substance Use Disorder Care
The Substance Use Disorder program at St. Albans supports Veterans facing alcohol addiction, opioid use disorder, and other substance use challenges.
Care is coordinated within a full service VA medical center which I have found gives Veterans to access addiction treatment alongside primary and specialty care in one location.
Treatment combines proven medications with outpatient counseling and behavioral health services. Veterans can expect support that addresses both substance use and co-occurring conditions with clear referral pathways to inpatient options when needed.
Integrated Mental Health and PTSD Support
St. Albans offers outpatient mental health care for depression and anxiety, PTSD, and other conditions common among Veterans.
Specialized PTSD services are closely coordinated with addiction care recognizing how often trauma and substance use overlap for those who have served.
