About Weber Community Center
Weber Community Center is located on Crocker Street in Los Angeles, California. They provide outpatient addiction counseling and substance use disorder services and treatment through prevention, intervention and education programs.
Programs Tailored to At Risk Youth and Immigrant Communities
Their programs are tailored to youth and adolescents as well as families and adults with a focus on serving low income and underserved populations in South Los Angeles. They particularly support at risk youth and immigrant communities, and are community oriented with priority given to culturally diverse and multiethnic populations. I was glad to see that they take a special interest in helping people who don’t have as much access to treatment.
Black Visions of Wellness or BVOW
A program that I find unique at Weber Community Center is its Black Visions of Wellness (BVOW) which utilizes the African and African American Integrated Service Model of supporting and strengthening the mind, body and soul wellness. This is a specialized service that is culturally centered around Black clients.
Skill and Activity Groups with Traditional Therapy
Services available to you at WCC include behavioral health services including prevention, intensive services and outpatient care. Additionally they offer skills based groups including anger management, yoga and knitting with a focus on providing groups that cater to the diversities of their communities. These can integrate the skills and therapeutic growth you need with productive and healthy activities.
I love that they offer free and low cost services for qualifying candidates, and accept anyone for service regardless of their ability to pay. They emphasize serving uninsured and underinsured individuals. Some programs are funded by grants and public funding to ensure everyone in need is served.
Located near South Figueroa Corridor and the Florence neighborhood of LA, WCC is close to Augustus F Hawkins Natural Park, a small urban green space with quiet areas for you and your family to reflect on recovery and your healing.
