About Southeast Alabama Medical Center – Behavioral Health Services
Southeast Health’s Behavioral Medicine Unit (BMU) in Dothan, Alabama, provides compassionate and medically supervised inpatient psychiatric care for adults 19 and older. Whether someone is facing a mental health crisis or needs a safe place to stabilize and heal, their Inpatient Psychiatric Unit team is equipped to help. With 28 beds and two dedicated psychiatric teams, the Southeast BMU offers a balance of personalized attention and expert care that’s hard to find.
Specialized Programs and a Team Who Truly Cares
What really stands out to me is how Southeast Health doesn’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to the mental disorders they treat. They have separate inpatient programs for mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, geriatric psychiatric care, and intensive psychiatric support. Each patient gets an individualized treatment plan and a whole dedicated team behind them, including a mix of occupational therapists, licensed counselors, board-certified psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurses. This entire team works together to help each patient meet their goals and start moving forward.
I appreciate how easy Southeast BMU makes it to get support. And I love that they’re based in Dothan, which is just around 90 minutes from the Emerald Coast of Florida. It’s such a peaceful setting for recovery and with the welcoming southern vibe of the area, it’s a great comforting place to begin healing.
