Substance Use and Mental Health Care Near Downtown Cedar Rapids
The center treats adolescents and adults with intensive outpatient (IOP) and extended outpatient programs (EOP). The IOP is a step down from inpatient treatment or for clients who can’t commit to an inpatient program. They use a wellness model of recovery that involves self-help groups like Narcotics Anonymous (NA) or Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).
The IOP meets for nine hours of treatment per week divided into three treatment days of three hours each. Additionally, clients receive individual counseling weekly. They offer free family involvement to encourage family members to participate in a client’s treatment.
Although clients are expected to commit primarily to treatment, I noticed that the IOP is flexible enough that you can still attend school or go to work. They have morning and evening sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Adolescents 16 and older attend the 3:30 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. session with adult clients.
Court Mandated and Personal Use Assessments in Cedar Rapids
I noticed the center has additional programs clients may find convenient, such as the court ordered assessments. Clients with an OWI, possession, or public intoxication charge in Iowa can schedule a substance use assessment and then begin a treatment program if appropriate.
One of the unique offerings I found at this center is the personal substance use assessment. If for any reason you’re questioning your substance use, you can get a professional opinion with no need for a referral. Simply call for an appointment on weekdays. Allow about 90 minutes for the assessment.
