About Salvation Army Transition and Recovery Center

The Salvation Army Transition and Recovery Center, also known as the Santa Barbara Hospitality House, is a transitional shelter and addiction treatment provider located in downtown Santa Barbara, California.

We like that the program offers transitional housing for adults who are experiencing homelessness, along with residential treatment and withdrawal management services for alcohol and other drug use. The structured setting focuses on helping residents move toward independence through improved health, stable income and permanent housing.

Transitional Housing with Structured Programming

The facility provides transitional shelter with structured programming that emphasizes support and accountability. Residents may stay for as long as two years while working toward stability. The program also provides residential treatment and withdrawal management services for adults 18 years and older who need support related to alcohol or other drug use.

It’s good to know that admission to these services is based on medical necessity and must be determined by a medical director or another licensed professional. Case management is a key part of the program. Staff members work with residents to stabilize health needs, identify employment opportunities or income sources such as SSI, and develop plans for permanent housing.

Treatment for Adults in Santa Barbara County

The center serves single adult men and women 18 years and older who are experiencing homelessness in Santa Barbara County. Individuals who need residential addiction treatment or withdrawal management services must first complete an assessment and receive a referral through the Santa Barbara County Behavioral Wellness Access Line.

Residents who do not have financial subsidies pay program fees that are based on their income. Staff members help determine eligibility for funding sources that may include county assistance, Veterans Affairs benefits, and other subsidies that can cover part of the program cost.
