About Odyssey Lighthouse

Odyssey House in Salt Lake City, Utah, offers low cost or free substance use treatment. They also run sober housing to help people transition back to the community after inpatient care. They are in-network with many insurance plans and have affordable self-pay plans. I am impressed that they accept over 48 different funding sources so that they can best support your individual situation. Clients can get residential and outpatient levels of treatment here.

Inpatient Substance Use Treatment in Salt Lake City

Odyssey’s inpatient program supports clients with addiction and mental illness recovery. They help folks work on improving their communication skills and emotion regulation and overcome negative stigma that comes from drug use.

Residents sleep in comfortable dorm-style bedrooms with space for storing their personal belongings. There are several communal areas including a basketball court.

The program lasts 30 days or more. Clients can choose a 30, 60 or 90 day program or leave it open-ended to work through their recovery at their own pace. I like that staff teach clients a variety of important life skills like cooking, laundry, house cleaning and having a healthy routine. Odyssey House also partners with the Salt Lake City School District so clients can get their GED while in treatment.

Outpatient Programs in Utah

They run an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that gives folks between nine and 16 hours of therapy each week. This is for adults who want or need to live at home while receiving treatment. Their general outpatient program gives you between two and five hours of weekly programming based on your needs. I like that they also offer a support group for family and friends who are supporting a loved one through their addiction recovery. You can also get affordable drug and alcohol assessments to meet legal requirements.
