About Safer Foundation

Safer Foundation is a reentry service organization in Chicago, Illinois offering outpatient substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling for justice-involved individuals. Through their licensed Counseling and Wellness Center, Safer Foundation provides regular outpatient and intensive outpatient programs designed to support justice-involved adults including those on parole, probation, diversion, and exiting incarceration; young adults and veterans.

With over 50 years of experience, the organization uses evidence-based addiction treatment with employment, education and housing services to reduce recidivism and promote long-term recovery.

Justice-Involved Adult Addiction Treatment Programs

Clients begin with a comprehensive assessment that includes substance abuse screening and mental health evaluation to identify co-occurring disorders and treatment needs. From there, individuals can enroll in outpatient or intensive outpatient programming that meets court and parole requirements while addressing the root causes of addiction.

Safer Foundation also provides relapse prevention planning, anger management classes, alcohol and drug testing, and case management to help clients navigate the criminal justice system and build stability in recovery.

Affordable Services for Social Reentry

An intake counselor can verify each individual's insurance, explain program options, and help people meet court or parole requirements while building a foundation for lasting recovery. The foundation provides reentry support including job placement, HSED education, transitional housing and legal advocacy for record sealing.

The foundation accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, military insurance, state and federal funding as well as self-payment.
