About Russell E Blaisdell Addiction Treatment Center

Russell E. Blaisdell is a residential facility with 52 beds serving men with substance use challenges and co-occurring psychiatric conditions across Rockland County and nearby areas. It’s located along Old Orangeburg Road in Orangeburg, east of Rockland Lake State Park and north of the Camp Shanks Museum. This location is part of the Rockland Psychiatric Center campus with access to community services that support ongoing well-being.

The facility provides a structured, nurturing and substance-free environment where you’re supported 24/7 in finding stability and building emotional resilience for long-term growth. We consider this program unique because they accept male sex registered offenders, which is unlike most others in the region. While they prioritize adult males over 18, you may still receive special consideration if you’re below this age provided you meet other criteria.

Referrals may come from the criminal justice system, local healthcare providers and community agencies. Folks recovering from traumatic brain injuries are welcome. I especially appreciate how they accept clients regardless of their ability to pay to make care accessible for the medically indigent populations.

Multidisciplinary & Structured Support

The program adopts a multidisciplinary approach in delivering targeted support following an individualized recovery plan shaped by a detailed intake assessment. Daily activities include structured therapy, life skills training and recovery-focused education, self-efficacy and promote emotional stability. Emotional stability is further reinforced through psychiatric medication management that helps address co-occurring mental health challenges.

Emphasis is on holistic healing. Individuals with primary opioid dependence are prescribed methadone through medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to reduce withdrawal symptoms while working toward long-term abstinence. Those quitting nicotine may also receive MAT. The program emphasizes family involvement through family education that improves communication and strengthens your support system.

Aftercare support may include relapse prevention planning, links to community services and ongoing counseling.
