About Roybal Family Mental Health Center

Roybal Family Mental Health Center is a county operated mental health center located in East Los Angeles, California providing comprehensive outpatient services to families throughout Service Area 7. Located on the second floor of the Centro Estrella building, the center has served the community for over 25 years with multilingual care in English, Spanish and Cantonese. The team offers walk in hours, crisis intervention and a range of therapeutic supports for children, youth and adults facing serious mental health challenges.

What kinds services are offered?

The center provides outpatient mental health services including individual, group and family therapy as well as couples counseling. Walk in services are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the center offers crisis intervention, case management, psychiatric medication services and psychosocial rehabilitation.

Additional supports include supported employment and housing, vocational rehabilitation and suicide prevention services. For individuals struggling with addiction and substance use, referrals can be made to outside treatment centers.

Who can get help here?

Roybal serves children ages 4 to 17, transitional age youth and adults facing crisis or severe mental health issues. The center specializes in serving people who have experienced trauma, children with serious emotional disturbance and individuals with post traumatic stress disorder. I think it's important to note that the school based services are available through a partnership with Montebello Unified School District and a specialized transitional program supports adolescents over 16 aging out of foster care.

Roybal accepts most major insurance plans including Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna, Cigna and Magellan as well as Medicare and county government funds. A sliding fee scale and payment assistance are available for eligible individuals.
