About R.J. Blackley Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center

RJ Blackley Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center was a drug and alcohol recovery facility that was located in the small town of Bunter, North Carolina. This was a quiet and close knit community that was located in Granville County, North Carolina. Despite its location, RJ Blackley served residents throughout Black Mountain and Greenville, North Carolina.

They had a structured approach to care here and they helped you build the skills you needed to lead a sober, productive lifestyle. This facility was permanently closed down in March 2023.

When they were open, this facility provided a continuum of services to adults who were struggling with an addiction to drugs and alcohol among other substances. The care they offered included both inpatient and outpatient treatment.

This facility has since been repurposed through a partnership between The Department of Health and Human Services and UNC Health. Now, the building serves as a 54-bed psychiatric hospital that provides inpatient care to children and adolescents throughout the region.

During its time serving the region, R.J. Blackley offered treatment options to residents in several counties throughout North Carolina. When the facility closed, operations were moved to two different facilities in the state. They include Walter B. Jones and Julian F. Keith ADATCs.

You can continue receiving the services that were once offered at R.J. Blackley at one of the two facilities listed above, depending on which county you reside in.

Many people who received care here say they appreciate the structured and routine schedule. This helped them benefit from the evidence based cognitive behavioral therapies that were offered here. While they have closed permanently, you can still find many of these programs in other state funded recovery facilities. This is one of the benefits of seeking care in the small, but resourceful community of Granville County.
