About Riverbend Center For Mental

Riverbend Center for Mental Health in Russellville, Alabama, provides treatment for substance use and mental illness. They also offer an adult day program. The organization has two Riverbend treatment facilities that provide mental health and substance use treatment to more than 7,000 clients per year. They offer comprehensive services including outpatient counseling, residential programs, day programs and outreach services.

Serving Northwest Alabama Residents Since 1950

One of the services at the Russellville location that struck me was their in-home intervention for clients 18 and older. The goal of the intervention is to stabilize clients in crisis and help them avoid psychiatric hospitalization.

I like their Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) services because they help clients where they are. Most services are provided in the community where the clients live or spend most of their time. ACT includes support, treatment and rehabilitation to assist clients who have a serious functional impairment due to mental illness.

12 Step-Based Treatment in Franklin County, Alabama

Their SUD services include an intensive outpatient program (IOP). The program uses the 12 Step model of recovery, and attendance at 12 Step meetings is required. Clients participate in 12 hours of service weekly based on the 12 Step model and medical models of treatment.

Traditional substance use group therapy is part of the program, and family and individual therapies are required. Once clients successfully complete the outpatient program they can move to the aftercare program. Clients with a dual diagnosis of substance use and a mental health disorder have access to the psychiatric services program.

Outreach Programs for Children and Teens

If you have a teen who needs help there are a variety of services available. They work with children and teens who have behavioral problems, SUD and psychiatric issues.

The FIND Team Program is for children and teens aged five to 17. The team helps diffuse crisis situations and stabilize the family to avoid out of home placement. Treatment includes family, group and individual therapy and is coordinated with doctors, schools, families and other appropriate agencies.
