About The Onyx Center
Owensboro, Kentucky, is known as the Bluegrass Music Capital of the World and is home to the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum. You’ll also find RiverValley Behavioral Health’s Onyx Center in Owensboro on Ruby Road. This facility provides residential addiction treatment for adult men.
Residents have access to transitional sober housing and aftercare services when they finish the program. I noticed that RiverValley accepts multiple insurance plans and also provides financial assistance to those who qualify.
Residential Treatment for Men in Owensboro
The Onyx Center has 16 beds and offers evidence based addiction treatment through individual and group therapy. They use assessments to tailor a treatment plan to your personal needs to help ensure effective recovery.
Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available for residents as well. MAT uses approved medication to manage cravings and help you focus on recovery while lowering the chances of relapse.
During the program, you’ll also have access to complementary treatments which may include recreational therapy, meditation, mindfulness training and expressive activities like art or music.
Transitional Housing and Employment Support
One thing that caught my attention is that even after residential treatment ends, RiverValley continues to provide you with essential support. They have a recovery residence for men that covers all your needs for the first six months—housing, transportation, food and other necessities.
During that time, they help you look for work. The Careers First program includes 50 employers willing to hire adults in recovery. RiverValley also has case managers who can help you create a resume, improve your interviewing skills and set employment goals.
Once you have work, you’ll start paying rent at the recovery house and RiverValley will help you find safe permanent housing.
