About River Park Hospital

The Barboursville School, part of River Park Hospital, can be found on Martha Road in Barboursville, West Virginia. 

They offer inpatient psychiatric treatment for male and female adolescents aged 12 to 17 who have been diagnosed with co-occurring mental health issues and substance use disorders. They will be permanently closed in February 2026.

Psychiatric Residential Care for Children 12-17

Their psychiatric residential treatment program offers 24/7 care for up to 22 children experiencing serious mental illness or co-occurring disorders. The facility was opened in 1986 and is operated by University Health Services which also operates River Park Hospital.

Their main facility, River Park Hospital, will still continue to offer inpatient treatment for children and adolescents including their roundtable and BRIDGE program. 

Bridge and Roundtable Programs at Affiliate Hospital

Their BRIDGE program or child abuse reactive program is designed for children aged eight to 12 who have been physically or sexually assaulted and emotionally abused. They also help these victims in addressing and treating their resulting emotional and behavioral challenges and negative behaviors. 

Their roundtable program provides residential treatment for adolescent males who have been convicted of sexual offenses and who are between the ages of eight and 12.
