About Renewal House Nashville

Renewal House offers women and their children specialized addiction treatment in Nashville, Tennessee. The organization is part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). It’s a transitional housing program not too far from the Cumberland River and provides counseling and life skills.

They accept insurance such as Medicaid and Medicare. If you qualify, you may be able to receive government funding for your substance abuse treatment, if funding is available.

In 2022, the organization expanded their treatment center and added 34 program apartments. In order to qualify for their family residential program you must meet three main qualifications. You need to be pregnant or a mother who has physical custody of one or two children who are ten years old or younger. You must also be 18 years of age and older and have substance abuse or a co-occurring disorder.

I do like that their program is family centered and provides you and your child with needed structure. You are able to live in their transitional supportive housing with up to two of your children, as long as they meet the age requirement. You get to live independently, on campus, while you go through treatment and recovery.

It’s neat that they offer a variety of services for women, children, vocational support and peer recovery support. I like that with the vocational services, their staff will help you write your resume, help you search for a job and also help you prepare for your interview. They will also provide you with career coaching and teach you how to budget. These life skills will help keep you on track.

With their women’s services, you will be provided with case management. Your case manager will take care of coordinating your treatment, dealing with insurance and gathering additional resources, if needed, so that you may focus solely on your treatment and recovery goals. If you would like, you’ll have the option to add spirituality to your treatment plan. They will help you build life skills and build up your self esteem and relationships.

They also offer a specialized intensive outpatient program (IOP) for pregnant and postpartum women. The main focus will be on the root causes of women’s addiction. You attend your treatment sessions three times per week. I do like that they will do frequent drug testing, to help keep you accountable, they provide incentives for meeting your goals and they even have father specific services so dads are involved in the recovery process.
