About Putnam Behavioral Healthcare

SMA Healthcare is a nonprofit organization that has been serving communities in Florida for over sixty years. Their location in Palatka, Florida can be found just south of the municipal airport and the nearby Lake Butler trailhead. Here, they offer primary healthcare and outpatient mental healthcare services to communities in Putnam County. This includes care for substance use disorder.

Responsive and Comprehensive Outpatient Care

This service center offers a broad array of substance abuse treatment services under their mental healthcare services umbrella. Some of these services are available to individuals as young as 12 years old who are struggling with addictions. Treatments include substance and mental health therapy, medication assisted treatment (MAT) to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, and psychiatric medication management services to assist people with severe co occurring mental health diagnoses.

Within their substance use treatment, they use both individual and group counseling sessions to help you set and achieve goals in your recovery journey while also having the support of a peer group. Patients in the MAT program receive very similar counseling, as the main goal is to support you while you build your own strong foundation.

A Safe Haven in the Storm

Two outstanding aspects among their services that stood out to me are their case management services and drop in center. Their case management services are additional practical support that they offer those who would otherwise struggle to access medication, apply for social security benefits, find educational support, and other similar practical tasks. They also strive to equip people to handle these tasks independently as a part of case management, to promote long term self sufficiency.

Apart from skills development, they also provide a place for those struggling with mental health issues to socialize and feel safe. I’m glad to see that this unique drop in center is a safe place to interact with the recovery community, engage in activities, and get extra support when you need it without setting and waiting for an appointment.

Amenities

Private Rehab

Private drug rehab provides a comfortable, secure environment that allows you to focus on doing the work to get your life back on track. Benefits include a higher staff-to-client ratio, increased one-on-one time with therapists and healthcare providers, private rooms for clients, and customized forms of therapy.

Private Rooms

In order to maintain a sense of autonomy, many private rehab facilities offer clients the ability to choose their own private rooms. The privacy and personal space ensure that the recovery process is as comfortable as possible.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Teen & Adolescent Program

Young adults often develop addiction for different reasons than older individuals. That’s why a young adult program in Florida focuses on the unique pressures, needs, and challenges faced by young adults.

Adult Program

Treatment at an adult program in Florida addresses the needs of each individual as they work toward recovery. Programs are designed for men and women ages 18 and up, and include a variety of treatment protocols to match the severity of the addiction, type of substance, and personal situation.

Alcoholism

Each alcohol rehab in Florida offers unique amenities and approaches, but most follow the same general guidelines. Treatment includes detox, rehabilitation, and maintenance. This is a proven approach to provide the greatest results for long-term recovery.

Women's Rehab

Often, women who have a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring disorder. Women’s rehab in Florida often addresses both the addiction and mental health disorder with dual diagnosis treatment.

Opioid Treatment

Opioid rehab in Florida provides the care you need to help you safely and comfortably navigate a path to recovery. Treatment addresses both emotional and physical aspects of addiction, offering individualized tracks and custom programs.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida helps people in treatment to revisit painful thoughts and memories and learn new ways to cope with them. These newly-learned techniques replace substance use and help the individual maintain sobriety.

Senior Drug & Alcohol Rehab

If you're over the age of 65, elderly rehab in Florida gives you the opportunity to be in a treatment program with your peers. This tends to be helpful for older adults because they can receive mutual support and acceptance from their peers. These programs are specifically designed for seniors.

LGBTQ Friendly Rehab

Often, women who have a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring disorder. Women’s rehab in Florida often addresses both the addiction and mental health disorder with dual diagnosis treatment.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT)

Therapists use rational emotive behavioral therapy in Florida to help individuals evaluate their irrational beliefs surrounding their substance use behaviors. This therapy helps participants change patterns of thinking and behavior to overcome addiction.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an integrative, community-based care strategy designed to address the needs of persons with severe and/or complex mental illness or behavioral disorders. ACT is typically provided by a multidisciplinary team of medical and mental health care providers, social workers, therapists, and other specialists, including addiction recovery professionals. These services are frequently provided in the home and community to clients in crisis, those who are clinically unstable, and those who are unable or unwilling to travel to a hospital or clinic for in-person treatment.

Levels of Care

Outpatient Rehab

Outpatient rehab in Florida focuses on relapse prevention and long-term recovery. It typically includes several counseling sessions per week as well as membership in a support group such as NA or AA. This treatment can last several weeks or several months, based on your ongoing needs.

Dual Diagnosis & Mental Health

If you are struggling with both an addiction and a mental health disorder, treatment for dual diagnosis in Florida is necessary for successful recovery. This multidisciplinary approach treats both substance abuse and co-occurring disorders such as bipolar disorder, eating disorders, depression, or anxiety.

Inpatient Rehab

Inpatient drug rehab in Florida allows you to receive round-the-clock supervised care while living at the facility. A combination of treatment interventions is typically offered, including individual and group therapy, nutritional counseling, experiential therapies, and medication management.

Detox & MAT

While each drug rehab in Florida is unique, most programs begin with detox. This process can last up to seven days. During that time, addictive substances are slowly removed from your system. Medication is often used to alleviate withdrawal symptoms.

Payment Options

Self-Pay Options

Choosing self-pay options for alcohol and drug rehab in Florida means you are personally responsible for paying some or all of the costs of treatment. Examples include paying in cash, using a credit card, or taking out a personal or medical loan.

Private Insurance

Private insurance coverage helps with the cost of alcohol and drug rehab in Florida; however the extent of coverage may depend on your rehab insurance policy and if the treatment center is in their network. It's possible you may need to pay co-payments or co-insurance fees. Check with your insurer for more information.

Medicaid Accepted

If eligible for Medicaid, coverage can aid in lowering the cost of alcohol and drug rehab in Florida. Medicaid coverage varies, but it can cover all levels of care, from detox to inpatient rehab and more.

Financial Aid

If you require financial assistance for alcohol and drug rehab in Florida, financial aid may be available. Financial aid options include grants, scholarships, non-profit programs, personal funding, and health insurance programs to help you manage the expense of substance abuse treatment.

Medicare Accepted

If you're eligible for Medicare, there may be coverage options to help pay for alcohol and drug rehab in Florida. The amount of coverage will depend on many things, including whether you are seeking inpatient or outpatient treatment for substance abuse.

Sliding Scale Payment

If paying the full cost of alcohol and drug rehab in Florida is not feasible, a sliding scale payment plan may provide a solution. Clients are charged based upon their individual treatment needs and what they can reasonably afford to pay. To qualify for this treatment discount, you must complete an application and provide supporting financial documentation.

Payment Plans & Financing

For those who are underinsured or uninsured, paying the total cost of a rehab program up front is not feasible. Fortunately, many alcohol and drug rehabs make financing available to potential clients through private loans, in-house payment plans, or partner lenders. You can choose a finance package that lets you start treatment immediately and pay for it later.
