About Preferred Behavioral Health – Toms River
Preferred Behavioral Health offers adults substance use services in Toms River, New Jersey. The organization is CARF-accredited. The center is a nondescript house in a secluded neighborhood suburb. Medication management and employee assistance programs are also offered to complement your treatment.
Insurance is accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid. If you don’t have insurance, you will be able to pay for services based on a sliding scale fee. Major credit cards and checks are accepted for payment.
You’ll be receiving comprehensive care in an outpatient setting. Before you begin your treatment, you’ll undergo an assessment. The assessment will ask you questions pertaining to your addiction, substances used, medical history and your goals. This helps the staff determine if their program will be the correct fit for you and also helps develop your treatment plan.
Depending on the level of care that you need, you will either participate in their intensive outpatient program (IOP) or their outpatient program (OP). With their IOP services, you’ll attend your treatment sessions three days per week for a total of nine or more hours a week. The OP services includes attending your sessions three times per week with a total of up to nine hours per week.
Both of their outpatient programs include individual counseling and group therapy. With individual counselling, you’ll be able to take a deep dive into your addiction and any possible past trauma. While in group therapy, you’ll be able to share and learn with your peers. You will be able to see that you are not alone on the road to recovery.
I like that no matter which program you are in, random drug screenings will occur to help keep you accountable. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also a service offered in all of their programs. WIth the help of FDA approved medications such as Sublocade, Suboxone, and Vivitrol, you’ll be able to ease your withdrawal symptoms and reduce your substance craving.
They do offer a specialized program for women called Women Achieving Recovery Now (WARN). This group is specifically for women who are wanting to eliminate substances from their lives. The group will meet three times per week for three hours per day. Random drug screening will also take place.
