Founded in 1990, POWER (Pennsylvania Organization for Women in Early Recovery) is a nonprofit addiction treatment organization exclusively for women in the Pittsburgh area.
POWER addresses the unique challenges women face in recovery, from co-occurring mental health disorders to histories of abuse and intimate partner violence.
Women-Only Residential Recovery in Pittsburgh
POWER House is a residential halfway house program in Swissvale with 26 inpatient beds. I've found that it was Allegheny County's first halfway house designed exclusively for women in recovery. The program offers stays up to six months in private bedrooms with 24/7 staff support.
Treatment includes traditional therapy modalities as well as anger management and expressive arts therapy through individual and group sessions.
Integrated Detox and Medication-Assisted Treatment
POWER Restore offers Pennsylvania's first all-women integrated detox and rehab program. Medication-assisted treatment is available, including naltrexone and buprenorphine maintenance. Women can also receive on-site psychiatric assessment and medication management.
Women in the POWER program receive morning meditation, exercise, life skills training, and family therapy to address the root causes.

The organization has over 30 years of experience serving approximately 1,800 women annually. I've read that they prioritize pregnant women, overdose survivors, and veterans.
