Plains Area Mental Health Center treats both substance use and mental health disorders. They offer extended outpatient and continuing care services for adults in Le Mars, Iowa. What I like best about this center is that each client takes an active part in their treatment plan. You’ll use the DLA-20 scale to assess many different areas like communication, substance use, self-care, time management and health practices.
Level 1 Care in Les Mars
Level 1 treatment in an outpatient setting gives clients a chance to work on their recovery in a low intensity setting. You’ll get less than nine hours of treatment each week.
Qualified clinicians use proven therapies like eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and motivational interviewing. They also encourage clients to participate in family therapy, 12 step peer groups and body movement classes like yoga.

I like that Plains Area runs so many different groups to support their clients. They have a group for women who are recovering from substance use and trauma. Another group is for eating disorders and another is a journaling group for teens. They also have men specific groups and relapse prevention groups. I appreciate that these groups are offered online which makes them very easy to join.
