About Plains Area Mental Health
Plains Area Mental Health Storm Lake is located in Storm Lake, Iowa. They provide clinical, crisis, and community services to help people battling mental health and substance use issues. The facility is about an hour outside of Sioux City.
Proven Therapeutic Approaches For Addiction
Their clinical outpatient services offer a wide range of therapeutic approaches to support you in your recovery.. The staff may use approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), parental child interaction therapy (PCIT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Clients will learn coping skills and stress management techniques that can help with relapse prevention.
I also noticed Plains Area Mental Health also has some unique services in their outpatient programs, such as life span integration. It’s a treatment that promotes rapid healing in adults who experienced abuse or neglect during their childhood.
Healing this trauma may help clients feel less need to use substances as a coping mechanism. In addition to these services, the staff members are experienced in treating patients who have co-occurring disorders.
Community Based Crisis Help
Their community based crisis services consist of a crisis hotline, a mobile crisis and assessment team to de-escalate crisis situations, and help with safety plans and referral support.
I really like one service they offer called Turning Point. It provides a relaxing and therapeutic home like environment during a mental health crisis. It should be noted that Turning Point is a voluntary program. When you have time outside of treatment, you can enjoy activities such as biking at Frank Starr Park or enjoying a meal at the local restaurants that are steps away.
