StreetReach is a specialized program to help single unhoused adults in Grand Rapids. One thing I think is most helpful about the program is the SOAR component.

SOAR stands for SSI/SSDI Outreach Access and Recovery. SOAR’s target population is unhoused adults experiencing substance use and mental health disorders. StreetReach helps these clients complete the application process for benefits with the intention of helping them find a stable residence and treatment for their disorders.

The SOAR Program in Grand Rapids is funded by the Pine Rest Foundation and the Heart of West Michigan United Way. This is a unique approach to helping unhoused adults get the housing, mental health, and substance use treatment they need.

It’s neat that StreetReach also features harm reduction programs. That way, should an overdose happen, you’ll be equipped to respond. It’s a realistic, practical service that can inspire many to commit themselves to treatment.
