About Pathways 3H Youth Ranch

Pathways 3H Youth Ranch Residential Program in Mountain Home, Texas is a unique residential program that is designed for boys aged 10 to 17 that have emotional, behavioral, or trauma related difficulties which can include substance use.

I really like that it is faith based and uses equine therapy as one of the key elements in its treatment program. Instead of being a short term therapy, Pathways 3H Youth Ranch Residential Program is designed to be a long term change and healing process. It’s important to note, though, that this program focuses on personal growth overall rather than direct addiction treatment and that it’s not a medical facility.

Therapy Through Mentorship and Shared Christian Values

Through a mixture of Christian values, mentorship and shared responsibility, the residents create a sense of community and peer support while undergoing therapy. I think one of the most important aspects of this program is that while living in healing residential cabins on the ranch, the boys keep up their education at an onsite school. The beautiful rural area of Texas Hill Country is very conducive to healing and quiet reflection time outdoors.

Holistic Care Combined with Emotional Wellness Development

The staff believe in consistent interaction with natural outdoor environments, so the ranch’s agricultural areas and animals serve as elements of therapy and learning on how to create healthy, trusting relationships with others. Both individual as well as group counseling are important steps towards the emotional growth that takes place in the residential program. Many of the residents have been referred to the program from child protective services or foster homes.

Former Residents Express Gratitude for the Ranch

I liked hearing that many families and referring clinicians mention in their feedback how noteworthy the changes are after having taken part of the program. In their comments, the former residents mention a sense of gratitude for the welcoming environment and special memories they hold from their time at the ranch. Many testimonials also mention how working with animals was very rewarding and therapeutic.
