About Clarvida

Pathways of Arizona’s Northwest Tucson site is based in Arizona. It provides outpatient treatment for those dealing with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Their funding comes from many sources, among them Community Mental Health Block Grants, IHS/Tribal/Urban (ITU) funds, and other state sources. Medicaid, Medicare, and military insurance are also accepted. Telehealth services are available to those unable to attend sessions in person.

The Seven Challenges Program

They utilize the Seven Challenges Program, which is designed for teens and adults who are experiencing drug and alcohol issues. The program encourages participants to reflect on their reasons for use, and to engage in open conversations about it. Individuals evaluate the potential harm of their using and are aided in making deliberate choices regarding drugs and alcohol.

They’re then supported as they consider their future objectives and aspirations and commit to carrying out these choices. I like that the program promotes inclusivity by addressing and honoring the patient’s background and potential lifestyle issues.

Treatment for PTSD

Treatment is approached through behavioral therapies in solo and group sessions. Medication management is provided. There are specialized programs for children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances and transitional age young adults. I appreciate that those with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) have a dedicated place in their treatment continuum.

Southwestern Landscapes of Tucson

An hour north of the Mexican border, Tucson offers acres of stunning southwestern landscapes to explore and contemplate. With two miles of hiking trails, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is home to a variety of animals, a botanical garden, an aquarium and an art gallery. The scenic Saguaro National Park features miles of paths winding through a serene environment filled with saguaro cacti. The Sabino Canyon Recreation Area at the base of the Santa Catalina mountains is an excellent spot for some peaceful wildlife viewing. Catalina State Park provides 5500 acres of streams and canyons for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
