About Pathways Behavioral Services Bremer County

Pathways Behavioral Services in Bremer County, Waverly, Iowa is one of a few of the corporation’s non-profit, accredited health facilities. Licensed by the Iowa Department of Public Health, they can provide mental and behavioral health services including addiction treatment to clients of all ages. Medicaid, Medicare and most other insurance options are accepted. Sliding fee scales are also available to those eligible.

Opened in 1967 and having since expanded to support six counties in northeast Iowa this facility allows locals to benefit from the services of highly trained clinicians and mental health therapists at every location.

The Bremer County branch specializes in outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment. Several levels of addiction treatment are offered here to suit clients’ unique and varying needs. Regardless of which program a client decides on, specialized counselors will work alongside them to create a personalized recovery plan and provide educational resources for their family and loved ones. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is also offered at all levels of care.

This center’s highest level of addiction treatment is its intensive outpatient program (IOP). IOP consists of a combined schedule of individual and group counseling sessions, taking place for nine or more hours per week. The program requires a great deal of commitment and dedication but it can still be done alongside work or educational commitments if clients choose. Sessions are provided in the mornings and evenings to offer flexibility that can work alongside most schedules.

Extended outpatient programming is considered a step down from IOP in terms of intensity and commitment with regular sessions that don’t exceed nine hours per week. Clients may begin with this program or transition down to it from IOP depending on their needs. Sessions are offered at a wider variety of times for even more flexibility.

The lowest level of care is the center’s continuing care program. Designed to offer individuals one hour of treatment per week, it’s primarily to ensure long-term support once the main programs are completed. This way, clients can access relapse prevention sessions and counseling whenever suits them best.

Specialized teen treatment services are also available here to provide age-appropriate care as well as treatment for gambling addiction.
