About Pathways Behavioral Services

Pathways Behavioral Services Black Hawk County is a drug and alcohol counseling center that treats addiction and serves the Waterloo, Iowa, community. The Pathways network of centers are located across Iowa and focus on treating addiction as a primary, progressive, chronic and fatal disease for adults and adolescents. Pathways accepts most insurance plans and Medicaid. Sliding fee scales are also available.

Multiple Treatment Methods

I’m pleased that Pathways understands addiction doesn’t have a one size fits all solution. This is why the network’s facilities provide multiple levels of care. Outpatient care is treated both via intensive and extended programming designed for people with moderate addiction issues.

Round the Clock Inpatient Care

For people with more severe addiction, Pathways offers a 24 hour treatment program that provides 18 beds for both genders, for patients that are 18 or older. I like that there are three residential programs depending on your needs that offer a varying range of structure. The most intensive level is designed for individuals still working to curb addiction while the two remaining levels are limited to people who have achieved specific lengths of sobriety.

Transitional Housing and Aftercare

Staying sober is a process, and support is needed to maintain sobriety. Pathways has transitional housing for men to help them work toward independent living. They also offer flexible continuing care for all, providing weekly support with tools to prevent relapse.
