About Supermind

Supermind in Miami, Florida is formerly known as Pathwaves. It is an outpatient center that centers its treatment methods on neurofeedback and traditional therapy. Located in the city’s Wynwood/Midtown district, Supermind helps you understand and work with your brain to create positive changes and overcome challenges, including substance use disorder (SUD).

Neurofeedback and Therapy as Treatment for SUD

Supermind uses neurofeedback, guided exercises, and traditional therapy to help clients overcome everything from substance use disorder to trauma. According to their NeuroEmpowerment framework, this combination of traditional therapy, neuromapping, and guided coaching empowers clients with the tools to gradually create healthier neural pathways.

This multistep process is pretty straightforward. First, they’ll use more than 200 data points and sensors to create a brain wave map that’s unique to you. Then, they’ll play a series of sounds tailored to your brain. Finally, you’ll receive personalized coaching which guides your brain to create healthier neural pathways.

Does It Work?

What I really appreciate about Supermind is that their approach to neurofeedback is well-supported by the scientific literature.

In an article in the journal Applied Psychophysiology And Biofeedback, researchers found that a treatment regimen of both methadone and Buprenorphine along with 30 neurofeedback sessions helped reduce cravings and improved general mental well-being. Another systematic review in Psychiatry Research found that neurofeedback showed promise across a broad range of substance use disorders.

What Are Clients Saying?

Clients praise Supermind’s NeuroEmpowerment framework for improving their overall mental health. Notably, neurofeedback also reduced their desire to engage in addictive behaviors and allowed them to better regulate their emotions.

Financing Your Care

Supermind is considered an out-of-network care provider, so they do not accept insurance. However, they may be able to provide documentation for you to seek reimbursement for care.

Unique Recovery Approach in Miami

The facility is near Margaret Pace Park. With hiking trails, a basketball court, picnic areas, tennis courts, and beaches, it’s the perfect place to meditate, meet up with family, and enjoy all that nature has to offer.

If you’re looking for an outpatient center that offers neurofeedback treatment alongside traditional therapy, then Supermind might be a great option. You’ll receive personalized care, a comprehensive neural map, and a better understanding of how to work with your brain to overcome your substance use disorder.
