About Passages for Women
Passages for Women was a drug and alcohol treatment facility for adults located in Houston, Texas. They treated people for substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder on an inpatient basis. They also treated women who had both a substance use disorder and mental health issues at the same time.
Post Detox Residential Rehab
The treatment program at this rehab was 30 to 120 days long, but the average woman stayed for 90 days. Clients had to be clean from chemical substances for at least 7 days before entering the program because they didn’t offer detox.
They were licensed as a rehab facility in the state of Texas, and all of the therapists were licensed as well. They accepted both private insurance and self-pay.
Recreation and Community Among Addiction Recovery
The clients here would have group therapy each day and private sessions twice a week. The women were required to work or volunteer at least 24 hours a week. All the clients here had chores to manage too.
I like that they offered frequent recreational activities. It is important to learn how to have fun and be comfortable around people without the use of substances.
I also like the fact that they invited family members to dinner on Friday nights. They allowed visitors during non-working hours as well.
12 Step Based Rehab
They used a 12 step model for therapy in which a person admits that they are powerless over the substance they are addicted to and relies on a higher power to help them stop using substances.
