About Opportunity House Inc.

Opportunity House Inc is a nonprofit peer run recovery organization providing residential substance abuse treatment and recovery support services in Buckhannon, West Virginia.

The program offers transitional and long term housing, individual and group counseling, case management and recovery coaching for adults recovering from substance use and cooccurring disorders.

I like that all staff members have personal recovery experience, creating a supportive community where lived experience becomes a powerful tool for helping others achieve lasting sobriety.

Sober Living for Veterans in Recovery

Opportunity House operates three residential facilities offering varying levels of support for individuals at different stages of recovery.

The Opportunity House provides transitional living with peer recovery coaching and counseling, Serenity House offers long term HUD funded supportive housing and Promise House serves veterans in recovery.

Their holistic approach stands out to me. Residents participate in daily 12 step meetings, life skills workshops, relapse prevention training and programming that addresses physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness.

The peer run model emphasizes community healing with certified peer recovery specialists guiding residents through reintegration after treatment, detox or incarceration while building practical skills for independent living.

First Aid instruction and NARCAN Distribution

Beyond residential services, Opportunity House operates a Community Recovery Center offering free recovery support, educational programming and meeting spaces to the broader multi county area. The organization also runs a Recovery Coach Academy providing 40 hour certification training, mental health first aid instruction and NARCAN distribution.

Outpatient Rehab

If you’re in long-term recovery and need ongoing counseling and support, outpatient rehab in West Virginia is a good option. This treatment is tailored to your recovery journey – lasting for weeks, months, or years. You’ll attend therapy and support group meetings during that time.

Payment Options

Private Insurance

If you have private health insurance, you should be able to use your coverage to help offset the cost of alcohol and drug rehab in West Virginia. Coverage may vary depending on the policy and whether the treatment center is in-network or out-of-network. You may be left with some costs like a co-payment, or co-insurance. Check with your insurer for more information.

Self-Pay Options

You may have the option to finance your alcohol and drug rehab in West Virginia through self-pay or private pay. This allows you to take control of the cost of your recovery journey and gives you access all levels of care — whether that is detox in West Virginia, or inpatient rehab in West Virginia — because you are not subject to the limitations of private insurers or state-run programs.
