About Open Door Mission
Located in Houston, Texas, Open Door Mission is a faith-based recovery program and support facility. They serve the homeless community and men who may have addictions or disabilities. Their residential addiction treatment program, shelter and support services can help you get back on your feet. Treatment includes education, counseling, community meals, fellowship and worship.
This residential drug rehab program for men lasts between four and five months. While living on-site you’ll receive an individualized care plan with one-on-one counseling and life skills building. The goal of treatment is to help you achieve sobriety and reintegrate into your community. After graduating from the residential treatment program, you’ll have the option to join the transition program for up to six months.
For treatment, they use the trauma-informed care model and focus on adverse childhood experiences. You’ll learn healthy coping skills to navigate substance abuse and trauma. Education is a pillar of treatment.
You’ll have access to a GED program, digital literacy certifications, and other vocational training. They partner with UTHealth Houston to provide medication management and other vital mental health support services.
Open Door will continue to support you after treatment through their alumni programs. Through alumni support you’ll gain career guidance and fellowship opportunities and participate in mutual support groups. Church partnerships will help connect you with volunteer opportunities during and after treatment.
Men who’ve attended Open Door Mission say that if this organization didn’t exist then they probably wouldn’t be sober. Another person said this is a very real and great place with a kind staff.
