About Odyssey House of Utah
The Odyssey House of Utah's Parents With Children Program is a unique substance abuse and co occurring disorder treatment program in Salt Lake City, Utah. Parents in this residential program can bring and live with their children (up to 11 years old) during their stay. Separate housing is provided for men and women, and it's the only program in the state that allows fathers to bring their children.
They accept Medicaid and a variety of commercial insurance plans. A sliding fee scale is also available for those who are uninsured or underinsured.
This program emphasizes building parenting skills and strengthening family bonds. This includes physical wellness and vocational support.
Growth for Both You and Your Child
Having your child with you in substance use disorder treatment is meant to take stress off of you. You won't have to worry about what they're doing or how they're feeling during your time away. But we know that balancing treatment with the needs of a little one is tough, so this program provides additional support.
During treatment, your child will receive daycare services from licensed specialists. Those old enough to attend school will do so at a local elementary school and participate in daycare later in the day. This way you'll know they're looked after and they won't be missing out on their education.
Continuing Care through Martindale Clinic
One thing that stands out to me about this location is the Martindale Clinic. They provide integrated medical services for Odyssey House clients, including medication management and preventive services. But what strikes me is that they extend these services to past clients as well.
They describe themselves as a "medical home for life" for those who use the service. Besides knowing you'll have a familiar setting to return to for recovery and sobriety support, they serve as a connecting point with helpful community resources when you need them. When combined with their aftercare outpatient therapy option it broadens the support you receive in recovery.

Getting active is a great way to support your recovery, and Salt Lake City has endless options for getting outside and exercising. Two surrounding mountain ranges, Oquirrh and Wasatch, have ample hiking locations. Consider making them part of your recovery while you're in the area.
