About Nova Recovery Center Wimberley

Nova Recovery Center in Wimberley, Texas, is a long term residential treatment facility for individuals dealing with substance abuse. It’s south of Austin, and sits on 25 acres of land, giving you the space needed to relax and focus on recovery.

In the 90 day program, you’ll receive evidence based therapies, peer support, and participation in 12 Step meetings. The facility believes that this combination of treatments can provide you with the best chance at maintaining sobriety. In addition to residential services, Nova Recovery Center also offers intensive outpatient services and gender specific treatment.

One thing I like about Nora Recovery Center is that along with using evidence based practices, it also uses holistic therapeutic approaches to help with recovery. The approaches available at the facility include creative arts therapy, psychodrama, and music groups. Creative artist therapy involves using materials to create imagery. It teaches clients a healthy outlet to express and deal with any feelings that contribute to substance use.

A unique therapeutic approach offered at Nova Recovery Center is rational emotive behavioral therapy. Counselors will help clients to identify self defeating beliefs and replace them with healthier thoughts. Behavioral strategies that you’ll learn to put into action include finding alternative enjoyable activities to engage in and rewarding yourself when you reach milestones in your sobriety.

Along with counseling, clients will participate in multiple educational lectures. Some of the topics that will be discussed are trauma bonding, grief and loss and smoking cessation. Staff members strive to accommodate all learning styles by doing lessons through films, art, and group activities. One other service I like that Nova Recovery Center provides is gender specific treatment. It gives clients the ability to feel more comfortable being vulnerable about their struggles and make progress in their healing.

They also have quite a few amenities. There’s a pool, outdoor spaces, and plenty of opportunity for you to reflect and socialize with your peers.

Studies show that combining art/music and drug rehab can have a greater therapeutic impact than drug rehab alone, as you’re able to access parts of your brain and body that you may not have access to during traditional talk therapy. Benefits of art/music therapy include lowering stress and anxiety, promoting healthy neurochemicals, and providing stress relief.
