SpringPath Mental Health Services — Northwest Residence IRTS

Northwest Residence in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota provides intensive residential treatment services to adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Care is integrated so both conditions can be addressed at the same time to support overall healing. They are part of the Spring Path Mental Health Services network and are located in a suburb of Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

They are CARF accredited, and they accept Medicare, Medicaid, private health insurance and TRICARE, as well as other state financed health insurance plans and self payment. Smoking and vaping are allowed in designated areas.

Tailored Treatment

In addition to programs for young adults, adults and seniors, they specialize in treatment for LGBTQ+ clients, veterans and their families, and folks who have experienced trauma. They also tailor treatment for people with eating disorders and those with serious mental illness, including anyone undergoing their first episode of psychosis. 

I like that they help clients with practical things like budgeting, cooking and vocational skills. They also offer support with transportation, interpersonal skills and case management.  

Client Experiences

Several clients shared positive experiences and were happy with the care they received and the quality of the food. One parent said, “There were plenty of groups to help her and also a very large staff for day to day living skills. I think it was wonderful how they found a placement for when my daughter leaves there.” There were other comments about the lack of professionalism among staff and the need for more training for overnight employees. 

Healing Outdoors in Brooklyn Center

Healing isn’t just about therapy. Getting outdoors helps too. With 26 parks and 20 miles of trails, I found that the city offers plenty of space for physical activity and space to clear your head. Palmer Lake Park is a nice place to relax and reflect, and Shingle Creek Regional Trail is available for biking and walking. The Brooklyn Center Community Center has a pool, fitness center and activities for all ages.
