About BayCare Northside Behavioral Health Center

BayCare is a nonprofit healthcare organization with locations across Florida, including the Northside Behavioral Health Center on Bruce B Downs Boulevard in Tampa. It’s only an hour from the beautiful beaches of Clearwater. The center has a mental health crisis stabilization unit, outpatient behavioral health services for the treatment of addiction and mental health disorders, and immediate care for clients experiencing a crisis. The center accepts insurance providers, including some Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans.

Bilingual Behavioral Health and Crisis Services in Hillsborough County

The center offers comprehensive behavioral health services. One thing I like about this center is the psychiatric and therapeutic services for children 18 and younger in addition to the services for adults, families, and groups. They provide bilingual therapists who speak Spanish and English, which is a nice addition for people whose first language isn’t English.

Services include a referral only crisis stabilization unit for individuals in need of immediate mental help. The unit provides a healing and safe environment for medically stable clients. Advanced registered nurse practitioners and physicians are on hand to provide treatment. Clients receive family therapy, psychoeducational groups, skills training, and discharge planning.

Harm Reduction Outpatient Addiction Treatment in Tampa

The outpatient addiction treatment program takes a harm reduction approach. I like this approach because it acknowledges that not everyone can stop using substances immediately. The approach adopts strategies to minimize the harmful effects of substance use while accepting that some ways of using are safer than others.

Harm reduction is nonjudgmental and provides services without coercion. This approach doesn’t minimize the danger that comes with substance use but works to get help for everyone, even those who aren’t ready to quit their substance use.

The outpatient programs begin with an evaluation and treatment planning. Clients participate in group and individual therapy and have access to peer support programs.

Another thing I noticed about the outpatient programs is that they offer services to specialty populations. Those populations include child welfare involved families, Veterans, and clients involved in the criminal justice system or diversion programs.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Adult Program Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Senior Drug & Alcohol Rehab Teen & Adolescent Program

Adult Program

Treatment at an adult program in Florida addresses the needs of each individual as they work toward recovery. Programs are designed for men and women ages 18 and up, and include a variety of treatment protocols to match the severity of the addiction, type of substance, and personal situation.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida helps people in treatment to revisit painful thoughts and memories and learn new ways to cope with them. These newly-learned techniques replace substance use and help the individual maintain sobriety.

Senior Drug & Alcohol Rehab

If you're over the age of 65, elderly rehab in Florida gives you the opportunity to be in a treatment program with your peers. This tends to be helpful for older adults because they can receive mutual support and acceptance from their peers. These programs are specifically designed for seniors.

Teen & Adolescent Program

Young adults often develop addiction for different reasons than older individuals. That’s why a young adult program in Florida focuses on the unique pressures, needs, and challenges faced by young adults.
