About Merakey
Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Merakey Germantown Ave provides personalized support to those dealing with addiction. The name Merakey is based on a Greek word that means to put something of yourself into your work. Established in 1969, they’ve grown into one of the largest nonprofit human service providers in the country.
Services and Partnerships
They offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) with methadone, Suboxone and Vivitrol, as well as an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and outpatient services. The IOP is made up of individual counseling and three hour group therapy sessions.
Their Parkside Mobile Intake and Assessment Team is available for those requiring emergency services and placement. They also have a partnership with the Philadelphia Police Department and their Police Assisted Diversion Program. Through this program they offer social and behavioral health services as an alternative to incarceration and further police involvement.
Philadelphia Community Treatment Team Rehousing Program
Their Philadelphia Community Treatment Team Rehousing Program helps adults who are experiencing homelessness due to addiction return to their families. This program includes individual and family therapy, education, support and resources. The connect people to vocational programs and employment, as well as offer referrals to substance use and mental health treatment. After reunification, they help by providing household items, utility assistance and home repairs. They also assist with obtaining government benefits like Medicaid. This benefits the community through a reduction in relapse, hospitalizations and homelessness.
