About NFI – Milestone Emergency Residence
NFI Milestone Emergency Residence is a short-term adolescent program in Wilmington, Massachusetts for youth ages 13 to 18 who need a safe, structured place to stabilize.
The program supports teens facing serious emotional disturbance, co-occurring psychiatric and substance use concerns, learning disabilities and complex trauma histories.
With a house-like setting and a capacity of just 12, Milestone offers individualized, trauma-informed care that helps young people feel welcomed, safe and ready to move forward.
Adolescent Emergency Treatment for Co-Occurring Needs
I found that Milestone specializes in emergency residential care for adolescents managing behavioral health challenges alongside substance use and dual diagnosis concerns.
Each teen receives an assessment and an individualized treatment plan that includes individual and family therapy alongside group work.
Clinicians use the ARC framework (Attachment, Regulation, and Competency) along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a Normative Community Approach to build coping skills, self-regulation, anger management and healthy relationships.
Staying Connected to School, Family, and Community
A defining feature I discovered of Milestone is its commitment to keeping youth engaged in everyday life.
Teens continue attending community school or vocational programs, holding jobs and staying involved with their families and home communities whenever appropriate, supported by partnerships with educational, vocational and human service providers.
