About NFI Family Resource Center of Greater Lowell

The Greater Lowell Family Resource Center is a community agency that works with youth, young adults, and families. They provide a continuum of services if you're struggling with your mental health, have substance use disorders, or need supportive care as you work towards a life of health and wellness. They’re located in Lowell, Massachusetts. It’s by Jack Kerouac Park, which opens to the Merrimack River.

I appreciate the intentional and specialized outpatient programs they provide to the youth and families they serve. As an educator, I value organizations that intervene and provide effective care to children who are facing challenges but need intentional and developmentally appropriate care. You'll find this level of compassionate care here alongside evidence based therapies that will transform your life when applied properly.

The youth programs are unique in that their services focus on helping young adults transition into independent living. Teens and young adults will also learn how to spot triggers that might cause mental health and/or substance use struggles.

If you’re already battling substance use, there are therapies here that can help you regain control of your life and minimize your risk of relapse.

I also appreciate their intentional support of juveniles who are involved in the criminal justice system or are incarcerated. Along with providing legal support, NFI’s Community Service Network partners with the state’s Juvenile Department of Corrections to help youth rebuild their skills so that they can lead a crime-free life.

Their families are also supported through this program to allow children to find a positive home environment to go back into when they complete their sentence.

As an educator, I deeply value and applaud NFI’s services that help children who are detained but manage to continue with their education. Whether it's going on to a four year college or getting connected to vocational services, there are resources offered here to help you succeed.
