Wisconsin Nonprofit Clinic to Combine Medical, Dental, Recovery Care

Wisconsin Rapids residents will soon have access to medical and dental services along with alcohol and drug recovery services in one place.

Family Health Center of Marshfield is building a health center at 231 West Riverview Expressway. Staff say the project has been years in the making.

Until the new facility opens residents have to travel to Marshfield to access these services. But the new center will bring them together in one location.

Four Services Under One Roof

The Wisconsin Rapids Health Center will offer medical, dental, pharmacy and recovery services along with additional support for patients.

Senior project manager for Family Health Center Barry Wolfgram, said the location was chosen because of its proximity to other community organizations. The center is near the YMCA, the VA, and the Senior Center which serve many of the same residents.

Patients who qualify will also be able to use a sliding fee scale to help with covering the cost of care.

Addressing Gaps in Local Health Care

Wolfgram said the project is intended to help people who have difficulty accessing health services whether because of cost or a shortage of providers in their area.

Dental care is one example. Provider shortages across Wisconsin have left many residents with few options for treatment.

The new center is also expected to create about 55 jobs. Family Health Center is currently recruiting providers including doctors and dentists.

Hiring is expected to begin next summer with applications available online. Construction is expected to wrap up next fall, and Family Health Center plans to share information about appointment availability on its social media platforms when services are ready to begin.

Combining Recovery and Medical Care

The center will also bring addiction recovery services together with medical and dental care.

People in recovery may need help managing chronic health conditions or treating dental problems associated with substance use.

Having those services available in one place could make it easier for patients to get the care they need without traveling to multiple locations.

For Wisconsin Rapids residents the goal is to make those services easier to access in their own community. Rehabs.org offers a listing of treatment centers near you. Call 800-914-7089 (Info iconSponsored) to get more information today.
