Cost shouldn’t be the thing that keeps you from looking into treatment or counseling. On September 26, Roswell, Georgia will host an afternoon where you can find free addiction resources You’ll also be able to find medical and dental consultations, groceries and mental health support in one place. You don’t need insurance, an appointment or money to attend.
The 17th annual Roswell Day of Hope runs from noon to 4 p.m. at Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill Street. Hope Roswell, which is a nondenominational network of local church leaders, organizes the event. About 1,100 people attended last year.
Everyone Can Use the Services
Organizers don’t list an income check, residency requirement or registration process. You can walk in and use the services you need.
That low-barrier setup could matter if you’ve received a private-pay treatment estimate and stopped looking because of the price. Events like this give you a chance to sit down with someone and talk through your options.
Free Resources at the Event
North Fulton Community Charities will have groceries that attendees can take home. You’ll also find haircuts, new shoes and socks plus consultations with doctors and dentists.
Free manicures are new offering this year. Coordinator Brenda Orlans said the addition gives people a chance to enjoy some pampering that may not always be within reach to them.
The mental health fair is another key part of the event. It can be especially useful if substance use and mental health concerns overlap. NAMI, Rev’d Up Kids, Pathways 2 Life, Summit Counseling and Alpharetta Counseling are among the participating organizations.
Organizers added mental health services after COVID-19 lockdowns coincided with more anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts among teens. Families can learn about warning signs that are tied to addiction, social media bullying and other concerns.
You can ask questions, learn what to do next and connect with local groups that may be able to help. The goal is to make those conversations easier for you to have before you’re left wondering where to turn.
A job fair will run alongside the resource tables. Employers will be looking for workers in city government, home health care and food services. Orlans said the event is also meant to connect neighbors who need jobs with employers who are currently hiring.

The groups at the mental health fair remain available throughout the year. NAMI has a national helpline and affiliate chapters that connect people with local support groups and services at no cost. Summit Counseling and Alpharetta Counseling also offer counseling in the North Fulton area.
Several Payment Options For Treatment
Roswell Day of Hope can help you figure out what kind of support you need. Paying for ongoing treatment is a separate question but Georgia has several routes that may help.
Georgia Medicaid insurance covers substance use disorder treatment for enrolled adults who meet eligibility requirements. Covered services include outpatient counseling and medication for opioid use disorder.
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities also funds treatment through their regional providers. People who don’t have insurance or have limited coverage may qualify for care at no cost or on a sliding scale.
Federally qualified health centers across metro Atlanta offer behavioral health services with fees based on household income. Some private treatment programs also have scholarship beds or payment plans. You’ll usually need to ask about those options since programs don’t always advertise them.
