A Littleton, Colorado treatment center that serves hundreds of people each month will lose its Medicaid rehab coverage contract. New Beginnings Recovery Center received notice from Colorado Community Health Alliance that its in network status will end in early 2027.
New Beginnings Will Lose Its Medicaid Contract
New Beginnings Recovery Center has served the Littleton community for about two decades. The center also operates 24 sober-living homes alongside its treatment programs for care that is comprehensive.
The center learned about the contract change in a letter from Colorado Community Health Alliance, or CCHA. CCHA said it would work with New Beginnings to help impacted members maintain continuity of care during the transition.
Medicaid Members Rely on the Center
Mary Brewer, president of New Beginnings Recovery Center, told CBS Colorado that the center serves nearly 250 people each month. Many are Medicaid members receiving treatment for substance use disorders.
Olivia Flieder is one member affected by the change. After spending two years in prison, she was released last year and entered treatment at New Beginnings through her Medicaid coverage.
“Without Medicaid being involved, I wouldn’t have been able to come here in the first place, which would have put me at a high risk of relapse,” Flieder said.
What the Change Means for Medicaid Rehab
New Beginnings will no longer be an in network option through CCHA starting in February 2027. Members who are already receiving treatment may need to move to another provider or pay out of network costs.
The change also shows how Medicaid rehab coverage can depend on contracts between managed care organizations and treatment providers. A facility can remain open while its Medicaid network status changes.
If you’re using Medicaid to pay for treatment, check your plan’s current provider network before starting care. Ask whether the facility will remain in network for the full length of your treatment and what happens if the contract changes.
