Henderson Behavioral Health was established in 1953 and provides multiple healthcare services for clients with mental health and substance use disorders. The organization has many CARF-accredited locations throughout Florida, including one on West Prospect Road in Tamarac, where they specialize in youth and family services. It’s not too far from William J Kelly Park. The center accepts military insurance such as TRICARE, as well as private insurance, and Medicaid.

Creative Solutions for Youth and Their Families in Broward County

I like how this program takes a holistic approach and works to keep kids with their families. They start with prevention in the Healthy Start Program. They begin by identifying pregnant women who may be at risk for infant mortality. They help women during pregnancy and postpartum to develop and maintain healthy behaviors for their well being and that of their children and families.

The Family Engagement Program offers individualized comprehensive care for at risk children. The families are brought to their attention through the child protection authorities. These are families where adults have substance use or co-occurring mental health disorders that put their children at risk, so they’re given services and resources to facilitate recovery. By improving family functioning, they reduce a child’s chances of future neglect and abuse.

Clinical Treatment Services for Tamarac

The Youth and Family Services includes multiple clinical services. Adults, children, and families can come to the office setting for family, group, and individual therapy. They also offer in-home therapy for children with complex needs.

The Broward Recovery Initiative for Dual Diagnosis Guidance and Empowerment (BRIDGE) Project provides teens with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders the continuous and coordinated care they need. I think parents will appreciate the Wraparound approach and in-home services to help teens overcome their dual diagnosis challenges.

There’s a psychiatric medication management service for children and teens. Sometimes achieving psychiatric stability requires psychotropic medication. Teens can have their vital signs monitored, and families receive education about their children’s medications.
