For 50+ years, New River Valley Community Services has emphasized behavioral health services for adults. I love that this center includes pet therapy options in its recovery programs. The presence of therapy cats at the inpatient crisis management program has been noted by patients as very beneficial.
The center’s outpatient services include mental health and substance use counseling for children and adults. I think one great aspect is NRVCS’ partnership with many other community agencies to implement innovative and evidence-based programs and services to assist individuals with substance use disorders. They also offer ways for patients' families to be actively involved in the treatment and therapy process.
