About New Horizons Community Mental Health Center

Located in Miami, Florida, New Horizons Community Mental Health Center is a nonprofit community-based agency providing mental health care to underserved populations. These are culturally sensitive and accessible services that include substance abuse treatment, psychiatric care, and crisis intervention. You can also access housing assistance, family support, and case management. Assessments are provided on a walk-in or appointment basis.

All services are provided in an outpatient setting. However, they do have supervised residential services for adults who are not able to live independently in the community. These residential services are for people at risk of homelessness or hospitalization because of a limited ability to manage their physical and behavioral health.

The outpatient substance abuse program includes screening and counseling for adolescents and adults. In addition to group and individual therapy, you may receive medication assisted treatment (MAT). Psychiatric evaluation and ongoing medication management are also a part of treatment. You’ll also get help with achieving personal, social, and life management. Case managers will help you connect to other needed resources like healthcare, housing, and social needs.

A specialized after school and weekend rehab program for adolescents with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders includes education and mentoring.

One thing I really like about this center is that they offer services in English, Spanish, French, and Creole.

People who’ve received treatment services at New Horizons say that the staff is amazing, and they really care about their clients. Another person said they’ve been coming to the clinic for 5 years and really appreciate the care.

Each alcohol rehab in Florida offers unique amenities and approaches, but most follow the same general guidelines. Treatment includes detox, rehabilitation, and maintenance. This is a proven approach to provide the greatest results for long-term recovery.
