About New Day Recovery Youth

New Day Recovery Family and Youth and Youth Service is a private nonprofit located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Here, young people can receive trauma informed outpatient services to address substance use disorders and co occurring issues like mental illness, trauma, family conflict and domestic violence. There’s also an intensive outpatient program for people grappling with addiction who require a higher level of care.

The center has been accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) since 2001. They take state funded health insurance plans, juvenile justice funds, and community service block grants. There’s also a sliding fee scale for people who qualify including clients who have low income.

Holistic, Person Centered Treatment

One of my favorite things about this alcohol and drug rehab is that they look at the whole person, not just their illness. They know substance misuse doesn’t occur in a vacuum, and most people struggling with addiction face additional challenges simultaneously. Through a holistic, person centered approach, the staff seeks to address the physical, social, emotional and psychological factors that can affect a person’s behaviors. In doing so, they help people heal the wounds that contribute to substance misuse, laying the foundation for long term success.

Additionally, I appreciate that their team is trauma informed and inclusive of all people, including those in the LGBTQIA+ community. Plus, everyone receives a case manager who shepherds them through the program and helps to ensure their needs are met. That suggests to me that they’re really invested in their clients and want to do the utmost to help them flourish.

Empowerment Through Community

I also love that the center emphasizes the importance of community in recovery and overall, lifelong wellbeing. They use a psychosocial treatment model which gives people the tools they need to become productive members of their community while leading independent, fulfilling, lives free from the shackles of substances. That can be especially vital for young people involved with the justice system, including those in DHS or OJA custody.
