Sacramento Veterans Resource Center

Sacramento Veterans Resource Center, part of Nation's Finest is a nonprofit addiction treatment facility exclusively serving military veterans and their families in Northern California. The center provides residential and outpatient treatment for substance use disorders, PTSD and traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma and co-occurring mental health conditions.

With over 50 years of experience, Nation's Finest delivers veteran centered care that addresses both addiction recovery and the unique challenges veterans face transitioning to civilian life.

Treatment for Veterans

The Sacramento center offers a 47 bed residential program combining short term inpatient treatment with long term transitional housing for up to 24 months. This extended care model supports homeless and at risk veterans in building lasting sobriety while addressing barriers to permanent housing.

Case managers serve as the cornerstone of treatment, creating personalized service plans and acting as each veteran's main point of contact throughout recovery.

Treatment integrates evidence based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing and trauma therapy. Veterans participate in individual and group counseling, 12 Step groups, relapse prevention and life skills training in cooking, communication and daily living.

I think it's noteworthy that the structured sober environment includes nutritious meals and both onsite and offsite housing options, with dedicated accommodations for female veterans with children.

Support Beyond Treatment

Sacramento Veterans Resource Center provides wraparound services including employment counseling and job placement assistance, financial support for rent and utilities, and help accessing VA benefits. Staff includes fellow veterans who understand the transition from military to civilian life, offering peer support and mentoring throughout the recovery journey.
