About My Place in Recovery

Southern Supportive Services is a nonprofit organization in St. Petersburg providing housing and addiction support services for individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use disorders in the Tampa Bay area.

I appreciated their community oriented approach. Founded in 2013, the organization serves over 200 people through integrated programs combining temporary housing, recovery support, job assistance and food security.

I also like their compassionate and holistic care. They recognize that stable recovery requires addressing the full range of challenges facing individuals with nowhere to call home.

Medication Assisted Treatment and Detox Referrals

Southern Supportive Services offers a Zero Tolerance program that provides supportive housing with mandatory sobriety, support groups and regular drug testing.

Participants attend AA and NA meetings, work with sponsors and receive referrals for medication assisted treatment and detox services as needed.

The program creates structure and accountability while participants rebuild their lives, with daily employment opportunities through the organization's labor service and access to warm meals through an onsite food pantry.

Alternative flexible programs are available for those not ready for the Zero Tolerance track, ensuring low-barrier access to critical support.

Transportation and Job Assistance

Beyond recovery support, Southern Supportive Services employs over 100 people daily through its labor service program, giving participants immediate income opportunities while working toward long term goals.

The organization also provides transportation to appointments, operates a thrift store and drop-in center, and offers employment assistance to help individuals secure stable work.

Levels of Care

Detox & MAT
