About Murphy Harpst Children’s Center
Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center in Cedartown, Georgia, has been a safe haven for the most vulnerable children in Georgia. The Murphy-Harpst residential facility provides a safe and warm place to stay for children who are looking to heal from past trauma and build a brighter future for themselves. No matter where a child comes from or what they’ve been through, Murphy-Harpst offers access to evidence-based therapy, mentorship and compassionate care in a structured environment so every child that’s in their facility can feel like they’re at home.
The Power of Therapy and Connection
All of the children at Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center receive a customized treatment plan to meet their unique educational, emotional and behavioral needs. After receiving this treatment plan, some of the CORE-funded services kids will have access to include 14 hour intention services, in-home therapy for families, medication monitoring, psychiatric services, support groups, counseling, independent living skills training, tutoring and more.
I think one of the most unique parts of Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center is their focus on connecting with their children through therapy. One of the therapy options offered at this facility is an Equine therapy program. By having children work with horses, the staff at Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center work to build the children’s trust and self-confidence. There are other programs available too, like outdoor activities, athletics, and art-based therapies.
