About Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services – Teen Treatment Program

Muir Wood Teen Treatment is a private alcohol and drug rehab located in Petaluma, California, that treats boys aged 12 to 17 years in a residential setting.

The program provides dual diagnosis care for young people struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar disorder, and posttraumatic stress. The campus is one of 17 operated by Moir Wood, an organization that has served communities throughout California since 2013.

Individualized, Holistic Treatment

Muir Wood recognizes that every patient is different. They take the time to get to know residents and design personalized treatment programs to address their distinct challenges and goals.

Throughout treatment, they check in with patients and their families to see how they’re progressing. If something isn’t working, they adjust the treatment plan to find a better fit. To me, that signals they’re responsive to their patients’ needs and recognize that those needs may change at different stages of recovery.

Another thing I really like about Muir Wood is that they incorporate experiential and holistic treatments, like yoga, meditation, music therapy, art therapy, and fitness in addition to conventional modalities like individual and group therapy. They take a holistic approach to treatment and support people in healing their minds, bodies, and souls for long term wellbeing.

Compassionate Care from People Who’ve Been There

The Muir Wood team is multidisciplinary, consisting of nurses, doctors, a full-time psychiatrist, support staff, an in-house chef, and teachers who deliver state accredited educational programs.

One cool thing is that many of these staff members have personal experience with substance use disorder, giving them great empathy for the teens and families they work with. Lots of them are parents of kids who’ve struggled with addiction, and some are in long term recovery themselves. For them, this isn’t just a job, but a passion.

Amenities

Private Rooms

In order to maintain a sense of autonomy, many private rehab facilities offer clients the ability to choose their own private rooms. The privacy and personal space ensure that the recovery process is as comfortable as possible.

Metropolitan Area

Addiction treatment in the metro area benefits clients by offering seamless connections from the city, around the state, and those seeking out-of-state treatment. Another benefit of attending a metro area drug rehab is that you’re close to major airports and ground transportation services.

Business Center

Business centers are a preferred amenity in many mental health and addiction recovery facilities and typically feature secure, high-speed internet, computer stations, printers, and related business technologies. Business centers are designed to enable professionals and students to continue to participate in work or school activities without leaving the treatment facility.

Day School

Addiction treatment programs provide an opportunity to get your life back on track with access to school classes or college courses. Whether you want to finish your GED or go back to school to learn a new trade, facilities often enlist tutors and teachers who are certified or licensed by the state to oversee self-study or distance-learning education.

Luxury Rehab

Luxury rehab is a form of treatment offered in a residential, resort-style setting. You’ll receive personalized treatment from staff and clinicians, have access to forms of treatment that go beyond what a typical inpatient rehab offers, and offer specific amenities like ocean views, large single occupancy bedrooms with private baths, and complementary spa treatments like massage, acupuncture, or reiki. Most luxury rehab centers have a limited number of beds.

Meditation Room

Yoga and meditation are great activities to support your recovery process during alcohol or drug rehab. These therapies have been around for centuries, and they are an effective way to improve well-being. Combining addiction treatment, yoga, and meditation can reduce cravings, improve sleep, relieve anxiety and depression, provide stress relief, promote relaxation, support emotional healing, and improve energy levels.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Teen & Adolescent Program

Typically, a young adult program in California can guide individuals from detox, through initial treatment, and extends to aftercare. Treatment gives young adults what they need to reset their lives and move to the next stage of life free from addiction.

Adult Program

An adult program in California uses various therapeutic methods to treat a person who is dependent on an addictive substance. Individuals aged 18 and older are eligible for treatment, which focuses on breaking the cycle of addiction and learning how to maintain sober living.

Women's Rehab

Women’s rehab in California provides a safe environment where women can work through addiction challenges surrounded by their gender peers. This often creates an environment that is more conducive to recovery.

Men's Rehab

Gender-specific addiction treatment programs may be more effective in treating men because they focus on unique needs of males. Men’s rehab in California is designed to help men process emotions and cope with stress in a judgment-free environment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

When a person is struggling with addiction, their actions and emotions may not be rational. Cognitive behavioral therapy in California helps individuals understand better why they feel and act certain ways and how those emotions and actions can lead to substance abuse.

Drug Rehab

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Senior Drug & Alcohol Rehab

Seniors face unique challenges that may contribute to substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders. Elderly rehab in California is designed to address these challenges to provide relevant and safe treatment for seniors.

Levels of Care

Outpatient Rehab

When you choose outpatient rehab in California, you will meet with a counselor and attend support group meetings. The focus will be on restructuring attitudes and thoughts to reduce cravings and develop skills to prevent relapse. The length of time in outpatient rehab varies by individual, based on their recovery needs.

Inpatient Rehab

Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient rehab in California reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program’s design.

Aftercare & Alumni Program

Community support and relationship-building are key elements of aftercare rehab in California. You’ll receive recovery coaching, social support, and mentors to help you maintain sobriety after completing initial rehab treatment. This support will continue as long as you need it, which could be weeks or more than a year.

Dual Diagnosis & Mental Health

When you have a co-occurring disorder, it is essential to treat both your addiction and the mental health disorder. California dual diagnosis treatment provides this type of multidisciplinary approach, for improved recovery outcomes.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) are a type of outpatient treatment program that often utilize many of the same treatment methods used for inpatient care. The difference being that you only visit the drug rehab in California during treatment times, then you can return home.
