About Satp 1

Montefiore Einstein SATP Unit I is an outpatient substance use treatment program located in the Bronx, operating under the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

The program serves adults 18 and older with opioid use disorder, offering methadone treatment, individual and group counseling, psychiatry and psychotherapy.

Built on a harm-reduction framework, SATP Unit I, I've found, delivers compassionate, evidence-based care through a team of medical providers, mental health clinicians and peer advocates.

Methadone Treatment and Opioid Use Disorder Care

SATP Unit I specializes in medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder, with methadone as a central component of care.

The program, I've seen, draws on Montefiore's more than 40 years of experience helping individuals enter and sustain recovery through its Division of Services for Addiction.

Patients receive daily medication management alongside individual counseling, group therapy and routine toxicology testing to support accountability and progress.

Harm Reduction and Integrated Wraparound Support

Unit I emphasizes overdose prevention through education and free access to Narcan and fentanyl test strips. The program also integrates primary care, nutritional services and vocational and educational support, giving patients a single point of access for whole-person recovery care.

Care is structured to address both the physical dependence on opioids and the underlying behavioral and emotional factors that contribute to substance use.

Telehealth Care in the Bronx

SATP Unit I is located in the Bronx, with behavioral health services available in person or through a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.

The program is part of Montefiore Einstein's network of five opioid treatment locations across the Bronx.

Montefiore states that most insurance providers offer coverage for SATP services, and prospective patients are encouraged to call to confirm benefits.
