About Monte Nido Eating Disorder Center of Boston

Monte Nido Eating Disorder Center (MNEDC) is a national network of eating disorder treatment centers that formerly had a location in Boston, Massachusetts. I discovered that the Boston location is no longer in operation but there are four other physical centers in Massachusetts, and five virtual treatment programs that you can also utilize. Although MNEDC prioritizes the care of eating disorders such as bulimia or anorexia, if you’re also struggling with substance use disorders, it can be managed under the center’s dual diagnosis program.

Prioritizing A Healthy Relationship with Food

Building a healthy relationship with food, along with a strong sense of self and accurate self image are core goals at MNEDC. While most people think of eating disorders solely from the lens of starving yourself or a binge and purge cycle, this facility will also address stand alone binge eating disorders, obsessive behaviors around food consumption, or even harmful eating behaviors that can impact health conditions like diabetes.

Dual Diagnosis Care

I was pleased to learn that MNEDC understands that so many factors can be at play with eating disorders, including SUDs. While you can’t participate in programs solely for addiction treatment, it’s offered as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. Research has shown that 35% of people struggling with SUDs also have an eating disorder.

Care can include residential treatment to help you stabilize before additionally addressing your eating disorders. While there, you’ll also receive therapy to address addictions and eating disorders. Along with learning how to avoid the triggers of addiction, you’ll learn how your addiction may have contributed to your eating disorder, and what to do in the future to build a healthy relationship with food and avoid relapse.

MNEDC accepts most major insurance plans in Massachusetts. The admissions team can also provide more financial details and potential aid options.
