About Monroe Community Mental Health Authority
Roughly 40 miles south of Detroit lies Monroe Community Mental Health Authority in Monroe, Michigan. For more than 50 years, they’ve provided affordable, easily accessible substance use disorder, mental health and developmental and intellectual disability services for Monroe County residents of all ages.
For me, their mission really stood out. They believe everyone should have access to high-quality wellness and mental health services. You can get support and care no matter your financial situation. They provide sliding scale fees based on your ability to pay.
They provide various services to connect you with appropriate care that meets you where you are in recovery. After an assessment, you can access detox, inpatient rehab, or outpatient services to start or continue your journey. They use a blend of treatment best practices, counseling and specialized services to meet your needs. These approaches help you find and sustain recovery by building a social support network, identifying triggers and gaining coping skills.
What stands out most to me is their intensive outpatient program for opioid use disorder. This track welcomes people who struggle with past or current opioid misuse. You can participate in six IOP sessions with their community partner and six months of aftercare with them. During this program, you’ll learn more about substance use, gain tools to sustain sobriety and receive a prevention plan tailored to your needs.
Another incredible feature I noticed was their After-Hours Crisis services. You can access emergency intervention and safety plans 24/7. If you’re experiencing a mental health or substance abuse crisis then you can contact them regardless of your location or insurance plan. You’ll benefit from immediate access to a clinician who will learn more about your situation to determine the appropriate level of care and next steps to help.
