Metro Counseling Center was established in 1999 to provide community-based outpatient services for residents of Jackson and Hinds County in Mississippi facing challenges related to drugs, alcohol and tobacco use. They seek to build a safe and substance-free community that educates, empowers and improves the quality of life for all residents.

They offer prevention, early intervention and quality treatment services specifically for low- to moderate-income individuals with limited financial access to care. They’re located on Palmyra Street in Jackson, just a short walk southeast of Jayne Avenue Park and a little over a mile west of both the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and the Old Capitol Museum. They offer specialized day treatment or partial hospitalization programs (PHP) for women facing substance use issues. A specialized transitional living program is available for men in early recovery who seek a structured residential setting to build independent living skills before moving back into the community. Their intensive outpatient program is what I like most due to its flexibility with therapeutic sessions tailored to let you receive targeted support while maintaining daily responsibilities. This balance helps you stay connected to your community and support network as you work steadily toward long-term success.

Treatment For Justice-Involved Individuals

Metro Counseling Center is state-licensed to provide substance use assessment for second-time DUI/DWI offenders. This assessment guides personalized treatment recommendations tailored to the client’s specific needs and risk level. I also like that the facility provides assistance to ex-offenders reentering society after incarceration, as this helps ease their transition and supports long-term recovery.

Levels of Care

Outpatient Rehab

During outpatient rehab in Mississippi, you’ll attend frequent group meetings and meet regularly with recove...ry experts. The focus will be to build strategies for sober living and to provide accountability on your recovery journey. This treatment lasts as long as you need it, but most people remain in outpatient rehab for at least 90 days and many for more than a year.
